  • Gunnarshögs Gård initiates a strategic collaboration with the climate tech company Improvin’.

  • The goal is to understand, communicate and reduce the emissions that Gunnarshög and their growers produce when producing rapeseed oil.

  • The work will cover all emission scopes (Scopes 1-3), starting from harvest 2023.

  • “We are proud to, for the first time, be able to present our rapeseed carbon footprint based on high-quality primary data.”

Gunnarshögs Gård is a Swedish family farm run by the Nilsson family since 1897. Their main produce, rapeseed oil, is known for its impeccable quality. Their rapeseed products are sold by Swedish retailers and exported to a vast network of European food processors.

Over the years, Gunnarshögs Gård has evolved into a company at the forefront of innovation; the Nilsson family was recently honored as the Swedish "Farmer of the Year 2023". The award was given in recognition of how Gunnarshögs Gård has modernized a traditional family farm, as well as their role as a pioneer in sustainability in the agri-food industry.

Now, Gunnarshögs Gård has made a strategic investment to achieve the next generation of rapeseed: sustainable rapeseed oil with 100% emission transparency.

To accomplish this, Gunnarshögs Gård has initiated a collaboration with a climate tech company Improvin’. Using Improvin’s technology, Gunnarshögs Gård will build its own sustainability performance platform for measuring and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The work encompasses emissions across all emission scopes: emissions from Gunnarshögs Gård’s production, the energy they use and the rapeseed they buy, which constitutes the lion’s share of their total emissions.

“Sustainability has been a cornerstone of our operations for years. We know that for us, the most impactful climate action will take place in the rapeseed fields. We must collaborate with our growers to understand where we stand today and together find ways to reduce our footprint.” Erik Nilsson, the CEO of Gunnarshögs Gård points out.

Gunnarshög will start by gathering primary data for the harvest of 2023. “We are proud to eventually, for the first time, be able to present our rapeseed emission footprint based on high-quality primary data.”, Erik continues.

Improvin’s CEO Niklas Wallsargård concludes: “We are very excited to partner with Gunnarshögs Gård, a company with such a strong heritage and an unwavering commitment to more sustainable food production.”
